Summary

The course is designed for those students who are interested in how to maintain a DBMS. The course starts from glancing database design and analysis which should be taught in undergraduate. After that, the DBMS internal tasks will be introduced, including storage and indexing, query evaluation, transaction management, and physical database design and tuning. The early stage of this course will introduce the schema design by running through a case study. The later stage will introduce how to maintain the database. The loading for students includes two mid-term exams, course representation, and final examination.
