Founded in 1966 LUISS is a private Italian university specialised in the social sciences and strongly committed to conduct academic research and educate talented individuals. The affiliation with Confindustria offers unique research opportunities for LUISS researchers and business practitioners as well as provides LUISS students with solid career opportunities. Located in the hearth of Rome, the eternal city, LUISS holds partnering relationships for training as well as research purposes with universities around the globe. LUISS is composed of four Departments and four Schools covering the areas of Economics and Finance, Management, Law, ad Political Science. In October 2015, the Business School and the Department of Business and Management have received the prestigious EQUIS international accreditation for all programmes delivered from the BA to the PhD.

Faculty is actively engaged in both theoretical and applied research in a variety of areas of business and management including information system (IS). Since 1998, LUISS researchers have achieved international standing in IS education – including teaching and research – through its Research Centre on Information Systems (CeRSI). CeRSI represents Italy in the ERCIS network and has contributed to the birth and to the growth of the itAIS (www.itais.org), the Italian Chapter of the AIS (www.aisnet.org). CeRSI plays an important role in the promotion and coordination of the Italian IS academic and scientific community. Teaching and research activities in the IS field at LUISS are also run in connection with the Organization and Innovation group, with the Project Organizing Competence Centre, and with the Digital Lab, whose members have published in international top journals including JIT, JSIS, I&M and CAIS.

Bachelor Programs

Graduates of the degree program in Economics and Management are provided with solid, basic, general preparation in the economic, corporate, legal and quantitative fields, as well as a solid methodological training in the analysis and critical interpretation of economic and corporate dynamics. They will understand operational and economic-financial profiles and will acquire useful tools for the formulation, implementation and monitoring of decisions.

The BA Programme in Management and Computer Science offers talented students the unique educational opportunity to be trained in the emerging field of Data Science. Co-designed by academic and business partners, this BA weaves economics and management disciplines with courses in coding, machine learning, and artificial intelligence to forge a breed of digital talents. In a data-driven era, managers must have interdisciplinary skills: strategic and organisational knowledge together with computing knowledge to discover patterns and relationships in data and turn these discoveries into actionable information that creates organizational and / or entrepreneurial value. Indeed, Year 1 covers such courses as economics, management, law, algorithms, coding; Year 2 offers courses on database management, advanced analysis techniques, organisation; Year 3 focuses on data science applications such as cybersecurity, innovation and entrepreneurship.

The program is designed for high school graduates interested in engineering-based programs (electronics, information technology, management), statistics, mathematics and computer science. The course trains students for roles as data scientists in medium and large sized corporations, become digital entrepreneurs, or to go on to master’s programs in Marketing, Operations, and Finance.

Master Programs

The curriculum for the “Economics and Business Management” master’s degree program gives its graduates a deeper understanding of business phenomena and management techniques, as well as qualitative and quantitative tools that can be used in large, medium-sized, and small organizations. Particular attention will be paid to the unique nature of international organizations.

Using innovative teaching methods that combine academic rigor and managerial relevance, the EBM curriculum includes the following:

  • Basic courses to develop a systemic view of the functional areas of organizations and acquire cross-cutting skills;
  • Four areas of specialization: administration; finance and control; management consulting; business management; digital management.

The major in Digital Management provides tools to govern innovation and digitalization of organizational processes in health, the legal process, public administration, and in companies.

PhD Programs

The LUISS PhD Programme in Management is a disciplined – but not disciplinary – learning path for high potential doctoral candidates. It offers concentrations in strategy, organization, innovation and entrepreneurship, marketing, accounting, information systems and corporate finance. Bachelor in Economics and Business Management

Lecture

While almost all organizations are becoming as many knowledge managers and users thanks to new technologies, the opportunity to deeply change processes, structure and relationships with providers and customers/users arises.
To be able to govern such changes, several competences should be integrated: the organic vision of the organization, and the skill of interpreting and assess innovations.

I am senior lecturer of Organisation and Information Systems at LUISS University in Roma, Italy. I also teach at WBS and Paris Dauphine courses on Digital Transformation and Cybersecurity. In LUISS I am the Director of the Executive Master in IT Governance and I coordinate the Digital Skills Lab, a laboratory that works in close connection with IT companies and professionals. My research interests are on the design and governance of digital platforms supporting online communities and on digital innovation including the evolution of cyberthreats.

I live in Roma with Virginia, my three kids and our dog. In the past I "have been" an electronic engineer, a military law enforcement officer and a computer forensic consultant.
