Decision problems pop up almost everywhere, and a proper handling of them is fundamental for a well-functioning society. It is, therefore, somewhat paradoxical that even complicated decisions still to a large extent are based on intuition and not supported by adequate tools. A possible reason for this is that the latter are based on algorithms that in most cases can only be executed on computers.
In this programme, which consists of courses given at a distance and in accordance with your preferred timetable, you will learn how to structure decision problems and risk analyses. Moreover, you will acquire a solid knowledge of the theoretical underpinnings of various decision support systems including an advanced one developed by researchers at DSV. Hence you will have the qualifications needed to give well-founded advice to decision makers in almost any domain after having completed the programme.

Shengnan Han is associate professor of computer and system sciences at Stockholm University. She received a Doctorate in Economics (information systems) from Åbo Akademi University, Finland in 2005. She is engaged in research on digital business, IT innovation, IT adoption and diffusion, value-added mobile services (for business, healthcare, and governments), business process management, IT governance, and strategic IT management. She has published 40 articiles in peer reviewed journals, internatiional conferences, and book chapters. Her paper has appeared in Computers in Human Behavior, International Journal of Technology Assessment in Health Care, International Journal of IT/Business Alignment and Governance, Journal of Systems and Information Technology, International Journal of Mobile Communication, Compus-Wide Information Systems, and proceedings of ECIS, PACIS , AMCIS, CAiSE, and HICSS. She is on the editorial board for Electronic Market: the International Journal on Networked Business, and Telematics & Informatics.
