Knowledge engineering plays a key role in a variety of MIS fields, ranging from decision support systems, to expert systems, to data mining, to business intelligence, to knowledgement management, and others. The goal of this course is to provide the theory and applications of knowledge engineering with an emphasis on the emerging soft computing technology such as fuzzy logic, neural networks and evolution computing.

By the end of this course the student will be able to:
Understand the fundamental theories and concepts involved in knowledge engineering
Understand the techniques and tools for developing various knowledge-based systems
Gain practical experience about deployment of knowledge engineering for decision support in industry and business
